Singapore, Asia

The Registry of Aruba returned from Corporate Jet Investor Asia 2026 in Singapore with one clear takeaway: aircraft owners and operators across Asia-Pacific are facing an increasingly complex regulatory and operational environment.

Held September 15–16 at the iconic Raffles City Convention Centre, the conference brought together owners, operators, financiers, legal advisers other business aviation professionals from across the region. For our team, the most valuable part of the event was the opportunity to speak directly with the people structuring and operating aircraft across multiple jurisdictions and to hear firsthand about the challenges shaping the market.

One of the key discussions of the conference focused on illegal charter activity and the role of registries and civil aviation authorities in addressing it. On day 2, Sir Jorge Colindres, Chairman of The Registry of Aruba, joined CAA Director Richard Smith, who was celebrating and extraordinary 50 years at the Cayman Islands Civil Aviation Authority, to discuss how aircraft registries and civil aviation authorities identify, address, and navigate illegal charter operations, as well as the regulatory challenges involved in preventing and responding to unauthorized commercial activity.

The discussion also highlighted how increasingly complex ownership and operational arrangements can create challenges for regulators, making clarity, compliance, and communication particularly important in cross-border operations. These conversations are highly relevant to Aruba’s work as an international aircraft registry. Our role extends beyond aircraft registration itself to ensuring that aircraft operating under the P4 nationality mark do so within a clear regulatory framework and with the appropriate oversight.

Our meetings in Singapore also gave us the opportunity to continue building relationships across Asia-Pacific and better understand the regulatory and operational priorities affecting owners and operators in the region.

Thank you to Corporate Jet Investor for bringing the industry together in Singapore and to everyone who met with The Registry of Aruba during the event.

Next stop: Dubai.

We look forward to continuing these conversations at Corporate Jet Investor Dubai and connecting with clients and industry partners across the Middle East.
